Cosby is a small village that sits in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains along the Pigeon River Gorge near Gatlinburg. Many consider Cosby the “best kept secret” of the Smoky Mountains, as it offers a much less congested entrance to the National Park than the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg route. Cosby is home to the second largest campground and trailhead in the park, and there are plentiful cabins and cottages to rent, motels and charming bed & breakfasts in this tranquil mountain community. All of the park activities are just minutes from Cosby, including hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, biking, golf and sightseeing. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge with their restaurants, shops, art galleries and family attractions is just a short drive away, and Cosby is also near the Cherokee National Forest and the Pisgah National Forest. With all of the exciting attractions of the area at its backdoor, yet far enough away to enjoy all the peace and quiet the mountains has to offer is what makes the Cosby community so special.
