Nashville
is located in the gently rolling hills of north-central Tennessee, and there is so much to do and see in this city that has been named by "Travel & Leisure" as the "second most friendly city in the USA." To start, there's Opryland and Opry Mills, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and historic Music Row. The buildings of downtown Nashville have been beautifully renovated and restored, including Ryman Auditorium, home of the original Grand Ole Opry. The City Walk is the Metro Historical Commission's self-guided marked trail through downtown Nashville, and guided tours are also available by reservation. The Parthenon Art Museum, in Nashville, was built in 1897 as the Art Building for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Other historical sights include The Hermitage, the home of Andrew Jackson built in 1821, and Traveller's Rest, the home of Judge John Overton that looks much the way it did two hundred years ago, and the Belle Meade Plantation. The Arcade is one of the oldest shopping arcades in the country and smells of roasted peanuts the minute you walk through the door. For outdoor recreation, Nashville has several lovely parks for hiking, jogging and biking. Centennial Park adjoins Centennial Sportsplex, and features tennis courts, an ice rink and an indoor pool. This is just a sample of what Nashville has to offer. It's a city that truly has it all - history, live music and fine dining, nightlife, theater, museums, art and many outdoor recreational opportunities.

Nashville Weather & Climate

North-Central Tennessee enjoys a mild, pleasant climate with no extremes of temperature. Rain can occur any month of the year, but is most often experienced during the spring and summer months. Fall is one of the most enjoyable times of the year in this region - days are warm and evenings are cool. Mid-October is the best time to visit to view the changing leaves. Winter is mild, but temperatures can range from cool to cold. If snow falls, it usually occurs in January or February and is seldom heavy nor does it stick around for long. Tornadoes are infrequent, but a few are observed in the state each year, mostly in the areas west of the Cumberland Plateau. Hailstorms are observed two or three times per year.
