Clarksville is a very pretty town located in central Tennessee with a lot to offer visitors. This vibrant community is Tennessee’s fifth-largest city, located about 40 minutes Northwest of Nashville along I-40 in Montgomery County. Steeped in tradition and history, Clarksville has myriad attractions, unique architecture, plenty of outdoor activities and a variety of festivals and other entertainment. The city of Clarksville offers 25 parks and five community centers, seven community pools and several recreational sports leagues. Water sports, such as fishing, boating, swimming, jet skiing and water skiing are very popular along the Cumberland River. The river was, in fact, named one of the top cat fishing spots in the United States by Field & Stream magazine. A major attraction in the city is the Roxy Regional Theater located in the historic downtown area of Clarksville. Housed in a 1947 art deco theater, the Roxy produces 10 main stage productions annually. Just a few of the other attractions in Clarksville include the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, which is Tennessee’s second largest general museum, the Pratt Memorial Museum, the Don F. Pratt Memorial Museum, the Cumberland Arts Center and the Clarksville Speedway. The internationally acclaimed Cumberland RiverWalk is Clarksville’s signature riverfront promenade. It is the centerpiece of the River District and includes an amphitheater, overlook plazas, a playground, picnic facilities, wharf, boat ramp, pedestrian overpass, and performance stages.

Clarksville Weather & Climate

Central Tennessee has a moderate four-season climate with warm, humid summers and mild, wet winters. Rainfall is distributed fairly evenly throughout the year, and thunderstorms are common in spring and summer. The higher elevations of the Smokies, Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains are generally cooler in the summer and colder, more blustery in the wintertime. Fall tends to be the dry season, due to the higher frequency of slow-moving high-pressure systems. Average annual snowfall ranges from 4-6 inches in the south and west to over 10 inches in the east. Due to the mild winter conditions over most of the state, snow cover rarely lasts for more than a few days. Severe storms, such as tornadoes, are infrequent in Tennessee, and when they do occur, it%u2019s usually west of the Cumberland Plateau.
