Centerville is a small town located in the rural countryside of central Tennessee near the Duck River. Centerville is the county seat of Hickman County. And, if you’re looking for a peaceful place off the beaten path – this is it. The population for the whole county is only approximately 21,000! The charming town of Centerville has a historic town square built in 1821 that features gift and antiques shops and even an old-fashioned variety store. If you love exploring scenic country back roads, you’ll be in heaven in Centerville! The town of Centerville is also near the Henry Horton State Park where you’ll find swimming, fishing, camping, hiking and horseback riding. There is also on-site golf at the park, as well as tennis and a children’s playground. Across the river from Centerville is the quiet community of Grinder’s Switch, known the world over as the home of country music star, Minnie Pearl. Other nearby day trips take you to the Jack Daniels Distillery, James K. Polk home, historic Bell Buckle, Carnton Civil War Home, and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Centerville Weather & Climate

Central Tennessee has a moderate four-season climate with warm, humid summers and mild, wet winters. Rainfall is distributed fairly evenly throughout the year, and thunderstorms are common in spring and summer. The higher elevations of the Smokies, Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains are generally cooler in the summer and colder, more blustery in the wintertime. Fall tends to be the dry season, due to the higher frequency of slow-moving high-pressure systems during this season. Average annual snowfall ranges from 4-6 inches in the south and west to over 10 inches in the east. Due to the mild winter conditions over most of the state, snow cover rarely lasts for more than a few days. Severe storms, such as tornadoes, are very infrequent in Tennessee.
